Plot Twist: The Rain RSVP’d Too
You know those picture-perfect garden party dreams — string lights, paintbrushes, laughter, and zero percent chance of anything going wrong? Yeah… so did we.
Our recent Ladies Luncheon and Paint & Sip started with the weather app whispering sweet nothings: “Just a 25% chance of rain,” it said. Lies. All lies. But with blind optimism and a can-do attitude (and maybe one too many Pinterest boards), we went full speed ahead, setting up the most Pinterest-worthy backyard event you’ve ever seen. Tablescapes? Flawless. String lights? Glowing. Vibes? Immaculate.
Then, like a dramatic plot twist in a rom-com, boom—raindrops. Not the gentle cinematic kind. The “you’ve got 3 minutes to move everything or kiss your centerpieces goodbye” kind. Cue the chaos.
My team and I turned into a Nascar pit crew—grabbing tableware, dodging puddles, dragging easels like our lives depended on it. We relocated everything into the client’s sunroom, string lights and all (because ambiance doesn't get rained out, okay?). And somehow, magically, it all worked. The rain may have snatched our backyard fantasy, but it couldn’t touch our determination—or the charcuterie board.
Inside, the event transformed into something even more special. The rain tapped gently on the windows like it was just trying to be part of the party, while 25 fabulous women painted, sipped, laughed, and made memories that were absolutely waterproof.
By the end, the sun had the audacity to show up late—like, “Did I miss something?” Yes, Sun. Yes, you did.
Everyone left with a masterpiece in one hand, and a story they’ll laugh about for years.
Moral of the story? The rain might crash the party, but we’ll still make it fabulous.
